Warilla CCC Staff integrate a transition to school program into the daily experiences of children in the preschool room. The staff focus on key elements of the children's progress in terms of their development and readiness for Primary School, expanding on each child's individual interests and existing skills. This program aids in the development of skills that each child will benefit from in their transition to Primary School. This may include some of the following: group skills, pre-writing and beginning writing skills, concentration, memory, social skills and the ability to follow directions.
During term 4 the Warilla CCC links up with the local primary schools and the children attend excursions to them. They then meet the kindergarten children, the kindergarten teacher, visit the classrooms, office, canteen and school playgrounds. This assists children in developing their understanding about what happens at primary school and helps to make their transition a more positive and successful one.
