A Family Friendly Business or Organisation is one that welcomes children and supports parents and caregivers in the everyday but sometimes challenging task of shopping and accessing business and services. Why is Family Friendliness good for Business?
For many people, the experiences of family, children, shopping and community life are linked. Many studies point to children as having increasing influence over their families spending patterns. |

Take the child friendly business challenge: Which family friendly practices can your business tick?
¨ üBusinesses have a welcoming attitude to all. People are friendly
¨ üSpaces are fun, welcoming, safe and colourful
¨ üA safe play area is provided (within clear view of parents)
¨ üA box of toys is provided (sturdy and in good condition)
¨ üActivities and toys reflect the business (i.e. toy planes in travel agent)
¨ üKids are specifically catered for (i.e. healthy and fun kids menu)
¨ üSpecific child related activities are held on premises (i.e. story time, craft activities)
¨ üBoxes of wipes/tissues are available for sticky hands and runny noses
¨ üDoors open easily with one hand
¨ üSpaces and doors are easy to access with a pram or wheelchair
¨ üSpaces and doors are easy to access with twin stroller
¨ üProvide access to clean and welcoming baby change area
¨ üDisplay child friendly posters and information
¨ üChildren may get a small reward, e.g. sticker, stamp or balloon (not sweets)
¨ üChildren are respected as valued customers
